I wanted to do something a little different for this post. Instead of being completely editorial, making some specific point, I want to open up dialogue and get other people’s opinions.
I want to ask those of us who have been granted perspective through life experience, what words of wisdom would you leave for the younger generation?
Now, I don’t mean this to be a complaining forum were we bash young people. The intention is not to address any type of stigma or stereotype associated with young people today (and I shy away from even labeling a specific generation, like Millennial), but just sharing wisdom for a newer generation.
I’ll go first.
If I could emphasize anything to a younger generation (other than the need for a savior), it would be that a high credit score is NOT the goal of adult life. I believe we do not teach our younger generation that credit should not be an acceptable way of life. Being in debt is literally bondage, and not something we should willingly and happily sign up for. Oh, what our future would be if our younger generation could get a hold of that concept early.
Your turn; what piece of wisdom would you share with a younger generation?
